Why many Azerbaijani Turkish poets composed their poems in Persian?

Ahem... Azerbaijanis are closer to Persians than to Turks. Azeris are not Turks they speak a language that is heavily influenced by Turkish but they are not Turks. Real Azeris know they are not Turks. They realize that they share Iranian traditions such as Nowroz with Persians, Tajiks, Pashtuns, and Kurds. If they study history they also realized that they look like Persians and Kurds for a reason: they have Iranian ancestors!
