What if my lip ring is in the wrong place?

Excuse me, I had a question. You see I had my friend pierce my lip because at the time I wasn't really caring who did it I just wanted it done, well we used a packaged hallow needle and pierced my lip, well when I was actually able to look at it I had noticed that the backside wasn't actually in the backside of my lip where I thought it would be it was actually through my lip itself coming out from the top to where if I open my mouth even slightly you can see both ends of the lip ring I was wondering if I should leave it alone or if I should go to a professional and see if they can do anything about it.
