Suede coat? Good investment?

I really would like to buy this coat ( http://cosplaysky.com/syfy-miniseries-alice-in-wonderland-alice-long-purple-coat-costume.html ) but I have never bought anything suede before. Is it true that it is hard to clean? Will it last long? Is it waterproof? If it isn't, can it be waterproofed at a cleaners? Is that expensive? In your opinion is this a good investment? I have a Tulle purple coat I have had for 5 years and it's in such bad shape I NEED a new one. Hwever it is terribly difficult to find a coat that suits me and fits me, & I love the style of this coat & it can be made to your measurements. I'm just looking for a warm, light, long lasting coat that can be worn through SoCal winters. Thanks to those who reply.
