Electoral college question?

because when we vote today, then that determines the electoral college vote. Each state has a certain number of electoral college votes, so whatever the popular vote is in that state, uming obama wins a state, then he gets all the electoral votes from that state. the electoral college doesnt 'officially' cast their vote till december.
